New Collections on

Having hear of the agreement between the Historical Society of Pennsylvania and, I was wondering IF or when I might find something of interest to me.

Was cleaning up my mother’s record in my file, adding Photos of the houses that I had taken on Friday, I noticed a shaky leaf, in fact 4 hints to look at. A record from the U.S. Cemetery and Funeral Home Collection [database on-line] Provo, UT, USA, Operations, Inc, 2011. That was cool, had that. But I was totally taken aback with the next hit.

This is the entry, on the page, from the Church Registry, of my mother’s Baptism.

The very interesting thing here, is that on Friday, past, I took this photo:

I know that Font, both my brother, father and I were Baptized at this same font in 1949. I just happened to take this picture and to find this Church Record is awesome.

  1. The Pennsylvania church records database on Ancestry really is amazing! I was able to find a great-uncle’s baptism in Pittsburgh. Was pleasantly surprised to see it listed his parent’s place of birth in Hungary, too! I’ve been trying to figure out where this uncle’s family came from, for years.. but a search of his name brought up that record. 🙂

    • Nick,

Very cool. This is the first time that I found a record there, and I wasn’t even looking. Have been busy with the 1940 Census, so was kinda busy.

I am looking forward to other records.

      Thank you,

  2. Nice find, Russ. What a beautiful baptismal font. I have ancestors from Honey Brook, near West Chester. They left in 1840 to go to Drumore Township in Lancaster County. Maybe my family knew yours? 🙂

    • Catherine,

I know Honey Brook and Lancaster County. In fact, I need to get back to Lancaster County soon.

I remember that font very well. That was my Church and I need to blog a little more about my brief visit there.

      Thank you,
